We know we aren’t the only ones obsessed with Fixer Upper as well as Joanna Gaines’ farmhouse style, not to mention her personal style.
The show Fixer Upper makes renovating homes look simple, inexpensive and fun. Joanna, her husband and four children seem to have an amazing life, raising chickens, flipping homes and enjoying the seemingly simple life we all seek.
There are a lot of reoccurring elements that are used on most of their projects. Their favorite go-to palettes are neutral but never boring. Walls are often white, but there are accents of black and multiple shades of wood that peak interest. Various textures throughout a room make it feel special and cozy. A current favorite is adding shiplap to walls, sleek countertops, unique metal finishes using modern metallics, often with a hand crafted accent, like a custom farmhouse table.
Since I am a huge fan, I came up with a list of ideas that I feel Joanna and the Magnolia Farms brand would love. Some suggestions to make her bags one of a kind would to use bleached, flip side or kraft materials on the brand’s paper shopping bags. I would also suggest embossing it with a watercolor or linen texture and add some hot stamping in an unusual color for the final touches. A copper or gunmetal finish will nicely compliment the bag. When it comes to handles, a natural material like sewn on cotton handles or braided jute will add a rustic feel to the bag. There are endless ways to incorporate farmhouse style into your shopping bags and boxes.
In addition to her work, Joanna has great personal style. Her distressed skinny jeans, cool t-shirts (often branded the Magnolia Farms logo) and boots, give off a classic “american style”. Accented with her eyeliner and flowing hair, she always looks amazing.
Dyed and distressed cottons, leather accents and tote like shoppers, and custom pouches for your items are great elements that can give your packaging a natural, effortless american style.
